The 2024 Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety Index ranks the top causes of serious workplace injuries by their direct cost to U.S. businesses. The Workplace Safety Index is published each year by Liberty Mutual Insurance and gives business leaders the insight they need to identify the causes of costly, common injuries. The report also breaks down the information by industry, so we can see specifically how the construction industry results look.
Falls to lower-level account for 24.6% of all injury costs
Overexertion, outside sources (i.e. lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying) accounts for 17.7% of costs
Falls to the same level and struck-by incidents each account for 12.2% of costs
